• Festival of Enormous Changes At The Last Minute
• 1703: Tokyo was hit by an earthquake that killed about 37,000 people
• 1835: The Georgia gold rush forced the Cherokees to move across the Mississippi River
• 1875: The Andrassy Note called for religious freedoms for Christians and Muslims with the aim of bringing integration and peace to the regions of Bosnia, Herzegovina, and the Ottoman Empire
• 1922: The creation of the USSR was formally proclaimed in Moscow as the Soviet Union was organized as a federation of RSFSR, Ukrainian SSR, Belorussian SSR, and Transcaucasian SSR
• 1941: The Nazis required Dutch physicians to join Nazi organization
• 1943: Subhash Chandra Bose raised the flag of Indian independence at Port Blair
• 1950: Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia became Independent states within the French Union
• 1972: US President Richard Nixon halted the bombing of North Vietnam and announced peace talks
• 2005: Tropical Storm Zeta formed in the Atlantic, tying the record for the latest tropical cyclone ever to form in the North Atlantic
