On This Day
- 1881: 250,000 Germans petitioned to bar foreign Jews from entering Germany
- 1905: Whites won the right to vote in South Africa
- 2011: At least 300 people were killed in a deadly tornado outbreak across the Southern United States
- 2015: A 7.8 magnitude earthquake near Kathmandu, Nepal killed 8000, left over 100,000 homeless, and destroyed many historic sites
- 2019: Cyclone Kenneth struck Mozambique killing at least 38 people and damaging nearly 35,000 homes
