- 1934: the US Congress passed the Tydings-McDuffie Act, declaring the Philippines independent after a period of 10 years
- 1998: A tornado swept through Dantan, India killing 250 people and injuring 3000 others
- 2008: Bhutan officially became a democracy with its first ever general election
