On This Day
- 1306: King Phillip the Fair ordered the expulsion of Jews from France
- 1648: During the Khmelnytsky Uprising’s Chmielnick Massacre, 10,000 Jews of Polannoe were murdered
- 1942: 300,000 Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto Jews were sent to Treblinka Extermination Camp
- 1944: The Bretton Woods Agreements establishing the Post-WWII monetary management system and commercial and financial relations were signed
- 1960: Cuba nationalized all US-owned sugar factories
- 1963: Sarawak (a Malaysian State) achieved independence from British colonial rule
- 1972: 2 Catholics were abducted, beaten, and shot dead in a Loyalist area of Belfast
- 2012: At least 77 people were killed by torrential rains in Beijing, China
- 2013: 89 people were killed and 500 more people were injured by earthquakes in Gansu province, China
- 2018: A major heatwave in Japan killed 11 people in one day
