  • 1961: The 23rd Amendment to the US Constitution was ratified, allowing Washington, D.C. residents to vote in presidential elections
  • 1999: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 10006.78 – above the 10,000 mark for the first time ever
  • 2017: UK Prime Minister Theresa May sent a letter to the EU invoking Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, formally triggering Brexit
