- Green Monday
- 1570: Sweden and Denmark signed the Peace of Stettin
- 1734: Britain and Russia signed a trade agreement
- 1916: An avalanche killed 10,000 people, mostly Austrian and Italian troops, in and around Tyrol
- 1981: Poland’s communist government declared martial law and arrested Solidarity activists in a failed attempt to crush the opposition
- 1982: An earthquake hit Northern Yemen, killing about 2,000 people
- 1990: An earthquake struck Sicily killing 18 people
- 1991: North and South Korea signed an accord calling for reconciliation
- 2014: A civil rights protest march against the police killing of unarmed black men took place in Washington DC
