• Firewood Day
• World Tsunami Awareness Day
• 1630: Spain & England sign peace treaty
• 1789: The French National Meeting declared all citizens are equal under the law
• 1838: Honduras declared independence from the Central American Federation
• 1872: American women’s’ suffrage advocate Susan B. Anthony voted illegally for Ulysses S. Grant
• 1895: Utah accepted female suffrage
• 1912: Arizona, Kansas, and Wisconsin voted for female suffrage
• 1917: The US Supreme Court, in Buchanan v Warley, struck down a Louisville, Kentucky ordinance requiring blacks and whites to live in separate areas
• 1925: Italian Dictator Mussolini disbanded Italian socialist parties
• 1933: Spanish Basques voted for autonomy
• 1935: The Maryland Court of Appeals ordered the University of Maryland to admit Donald Murray, a black man
• 1942: Nazi’s carried out a raid on Greek Jews in Paris
• 2015: Koyuki Higashi and Hiroko Matsuhara’s union became Japan’s first officially recognized same-sex union
• 2017: Typhoon Damrey struck Vietnam’s south-central coast killing at least 27 people and leaving others missing
