Many days there are far too many anniversaries, holidays, and observances to post about individually on social media, so in an effort to have more of them available, LLPHP is going to experiment with posting them daily. - Celebrate Bi-Sexuality Day
- International Day of Sign Languages
- 1739: Russia and Turkey signed the Peace of Belgrade
- 1821: In the Fall of Tripolitsa, Greek forces massacred 30,000 Turks during Greek War of Independence
- 1868: Grito de Lares proclaimed Puerto Rico’s independence, but the movement was crushed by Spain
- 1877: A hurricane struck Curacao and Bonaire killing 200 people
- 1913: Protests took place in the Free State, South Africa, led by Charlotte Maxeke, resisting government attempts to impose passes on women
- 1923: 80,000 people demonstrated in Amsterdam against Fleet law
- 1941: The first experiments in murder by gas were conducted at Auschwitz Concentration Camp
- 1942: Transport #36 departed with French Jews aboard for Nazi Germany
- 1950: The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Ralph Bunche for mediation in Israel. He was the first African American winner
- 1955: An all white jury found Roy Brant and John William Milam not guilty of the brutal murder of black teenager Emmett Till in Sumner, Mississippi, in a landmark case that would help inspire civil rights movement in the US
- 1957: A white mob forced 9 black students enrolled at Little Rock’s Central High School in Arkansas to withdraw. President Dwight D. Eisenhower ordered US troops to support the integration
- 1979: Jane Fonda and 200,000 other people attended an anti-nuke rally in Battery Park, NYC
- 1992: A mud storm killed 30 people in South France
- 2004: At least 1,070 people in Haiti were reported killed by floods caused by Hurricane Jeanne
- 2012: Iran blocked the use of Google as a search engine
- 2013: 25 people were killed after Typhoon Usagi passed over Hong Kong and China
- 2020: A Kentucky grand jury indicts only one of three officers for wanton engagement for shooting unarmed Breonna Taylor in Louisville
