• 1629: Sweden and Poland signed the Peace of Altmark
• 1665: At the height of the Great Plague of London, 7,165 people died throughout the previous week
• 1680: A tax revolt in Gorinchem, Netherlands occurred due to tax on cereal grains
• 1772: New Jersey passed a bill requiring a license to practise medicine
• 1786: Britain and France signed a trade agreement
• 1914: The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) was formed to regulate interstate commerce
• 1970: The Laguna Fire started in San Diego County, California. It would burn 175,425 acres (710 km²)
• 1997: An earthquake struck the Italy’s Umbria and Marche regions, causing part of the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi to collapse
• 2000: Anti-globalization protests against the IMF and World Bank were held by approximately 20,000 protesters in Prague
• 2009: Typhoon Ketsana hit the Philippines, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand, causing 700 people’s deaths
