  • 1454: Jews were expelled from Brunn Moravia by order of King Ladislaus
  • 1614: Tradespeople under Vincent Fettmilch chased and plundered the Jews out of their ghetto in Frankfurt
  • 1775: King George III proclaimed the colonies to be in open rebellion
  • 1791: Haitian Slave Revolution began under voodoo priest Boukman
  • 1894: Mahatma Gandhi formed the Natal Indian Congress (NIC) in order to fight discrimination against Indian traders in Natal
  • 1952: The penal colony on Devil’s Island was permanently closed
  • 1964: Guinea, Liberia, and Ivory Coast formed a joint market
  • 1964: Civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer spoke at the US Democratic National Convention about efforts to register people to vote in Mississippi
  • 1968: The Society of Labour Lawyers (SLL) published an ‘interim report’ about alleged discrimination in Northern Ireland which was heavily criticised by unionists
  • 1971: Approximately 130 non-Unionist councillors announced their withdrawal from participation on district councils across Northern Ireland in protest against Internment (allowing suspected terrorists to be indefinitely detained without trial)
  • 1992: FBI HRT sniper Lon Horiuchi shot and killed Vicki Weaver during an 11-day siege at her home at Ruby Ridge, Idaho
  • 2020: Fires burning in Northern California were declared a Major Disaster with LNU Lightning Complex Fire (341,243 acres) and SCU Lightning Complex Fire (339,968 acres) among the 3 largest wildfires in state history
  • 2020: The Mexican COVID-19 death toll passed 60,000, the world’s third highest total to that date
