  • Everybody Draw Mohammed Day
  • 1293: An earthquake struck Kamakura, Japan killing 30,000 people
  • 1867: The British Parliament rejected John Stuart Mills’ proposals on women’s suffrage
  • 1870: The Dutch Parliament abolished capital punishment in The Netherlands
  • 1916, 1917, 1918: Codell, Kansas was hit by a tornado on the same day three years in a row
  • 1917: The Turkish government authorized Jews to return to Tel Aviv and Jaffa
  • 1944: The US Communist Party dissolved
  • 1959: Japanese-Americans regained their citizenship
  • 1967: 10,000 people demonstrated against the Vietnam War
  • 2012: A 6.0 magnitude earthquake killed 6 and injured dozens in northern Italy
  • 2020: Cyclone Amphan came ashore in West Bengal, East India and Bangladesh killing at least 84 people
