• Bill of Rights Day
• 1680: A tax revolt occurred on Terschelling due to taxes on cereal
• 1791: The US Bill of Rights was ratified when Virginia gave its approval to amendments 1-10 to the US constitution
• 1792: The first life insurance policy issued in the US was issued in Philadelphia
• 1917: The Moldavian Republic declared independence from Russia
• 1919: Fiume (Rijeka, modern Croatia) declared its independence
• 1941: The American Federation of Labor adopted a no-strike policy in war industries
• 1961: Adolf Eichmann was sentenced to death for war crimes during World War II
• 1965: The third cyclone of year to strike killed 15,000 people at the mouths of the Ganges River in Bangladesh
• 1973: The American Psychiatric Association declared homosexuality is not a mental illness
• 1986: 150 people were killed during race riots in Karachi
• 2005: Latvia amended its constitution to eliminate the possibility of same-sex marriages
• 2019: Protests against India’s new citizenship bill excluding Muslims, erupted across major cities, leading to five people’s deaths in the unrest
