• Autism Sunday – also known as International Day of Prayer for Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome
• Self-Love Day
• 1349: The Jews of Burgdorf, Switzerland were expelled from the city
• 1633: Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei arrived in Rome for his trial before the Inquisition for professing his belief that the Earth revolves around the Sun
• 1689: The Parliament of England adopted the Bill of Rights which established the rights of parliament and placed limits on the monarch
• 1799: The first US law regulating insurance was passed by Massachusetts’ legislature
• 1832: Cholera appeared in London for the first time
• 1837: A riot broke out in New York due to a combination of poverty and increases in the cost of flour
• 1907: English suffragettes stormed the British Parliament and 60 women were arrested
• 1934: The Austrian Dollfuss government banned the Socialist Party
• 1979: Washington State’s Hood Canal Bridge broke up in a windstorm
• 2001: A 6.6 earthquake hit El Salvador, killing at least 400 people
• 2008: Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd made an historic apology to Indigenous Australians, and especially to the Stolen Generations who suffered forced child removal and assimilation
• 2018: South Africa declared a three-year drought a National Disaster
• 2019: The Flinders River swelled to 37 miles wide (60km) creating its own weather system after intense flooding in Queensland, Australia
• 2020: The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported that January 2020 was the hottest January in recorded history
• 2021: US President Donald Trump was acquitted in a second Senate impeachment trial, this time on charges of incitement of insurrection
