- 1348: Rudolph of Oron claimed Jews had confessed to poisoning wells
- 1492: In La Guardia, Spain, 6 Jews and 5 Conversos were accused of ritual murder
- 1777: The Articles of Confederation, the first constitution of the United States, was approved by the Continental Congress
- 1939: Nazis began the mass murder of Warsaw’s Jews
- 1955: Poland and Yugoslavia signed a trade agreement
- 1969: An estimated 2 million people took part in the Vietnam War Moratorium demonstration across the United States
- 1994: A major earthquake struck the Philippines, killing 45 people
- 2007: The devastating Cyclone Sidr hit Bangladesh, killing about 5000 people and destroying the world’s largest mangrove forest
- 2014: A 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck under the Molucca Sea in eastern Indonesia, triggering a tsunami warning
- 2017: An Australian postal vote on same-sex marriage revealed 61% in favour
- 2019: Iran shut down its internet for five days to suppress news of national protests against higher gas prices marking the beginning of the worst unrest in the country in 40 years
