- 1516: The Treaty of Noyon between France and Spain was signed
- 1553: Theologian and physician Michael Servetus was arrested for heresy in Geneva. After being found guilty he was executed
- 1645: Sweden and Denmark signed the Peace of Brömsebro
- 1814: The Anglo-Dutch Treaty was signed that ceded the Cape of Good Hope to the British and prohibited transporting slaves
- 1868: Earthquakes killed 25,000 people and caused catastrophic damage in Peru and Ecuador
- 1960: The Central African Republic and Chad proclaimed independence from France
- 1984: Morocco and Libya signed the “Arabic-African Union” treaty
- 2004: 156 Congolese Tutsi refugees were massacred at the Gatumba refugee camp in Burundi
- 2004: Hurricane Charley struck Punta Gorda, Florida devastating the area
- 2015: Swedish Prosecutors announced they were dropping charges against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange
- 2020: Israel and the United Arab Emirates struck a historic peace deal to normalize relations
