  • Autistic Pride Day
  • 1580: The States of Utrecht forbade Catholic worship
  • 1639: The Treaty of Berwick ended the First Bishops’ War between England and Scotland
  • 1873: Susan B. Anthony was fined $100 for voting for US President
  • 1912: The Republican National Convention split between President Taft and Theodore Roosevelt. After Taft was nominated, Roosevelt and progressive elements of the party formed the Progressive Party, also known as the ‘Bull Moose Party’
  • 1926: Theodor Lessing of Hanover was laid-off “because he is a Jew”
  • 1968: The US Supreme Court banned racial discrimination in the sale and rental of housing
  • 1972: The US Supreme Court confirmed a lower court ruling in the Curt Flood case, which upheld baseball’s exemption from antitrust laws
  • 1982: The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was extended by the US Senate
  • 1991: A mud storm in Antofagasta Chile killed 80 people
  • 2013: Russia passed a law banning foreign same-sex couples from adopting Russian children
  • 2017: A rare magnitude 4 earthquake caused a tsunami to hit Nuugaatsiaq in northwestern Greenland
  • 2019: The International Tribunal in London reports that China has been forcefully harvesting organs from marginalized groups in prison camps on a significant scale
  • 2019: Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam announced the suspension of a pro-China and highly controversial extradition law, after massive protests in the city
