- 1804: Lewis and Clark set out on their expedition for the Pacific Coast
- 1811: Paraguay gained independence from Spain
- 1884: The Anti-Monopoly Party formed in the US
- 1948: Israel declared independence from British Administration
- 1969: Abortion and contraception were legalized in Canada
- 1973: The US Supreme Court approved equal rights for women in the military
- 2012: 1,500 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons agreed to end mass hunger strike
- 2013: Brazil became the 15th country to legalize same-sex marriage
- 2019: San Francisco became the first city to vote to ban use of facial recognition
