  • National Stop The Violence Day
  • Start Your Own Country Day
  • 1542: Spain implemented new laws against slavery in America
  • 1794: Strasbourg Alsace-Lorraine, prohibited circumcision and wearing of beards
  • 1842: Mount St Helens in Washington State erupted
  • 1906: Peter Stolypin, Prime Minister of Russia, introduced agrarian reforms allowing peasants to withdraw from the communes and take their share of land for private ownership
  • 1918: Polish forces attacked the Jewish community of Lemberg (Lvov)
  • 1919: A Labor Conference Committee in the US urged an 8-hour work day and 48-hour work week
  • 1926: The Imperial Conference ended, giving autonomy inside the British Commonwealth
  • 1940: 500 students in Delft demonstrated against the Nazis
  • 1968: The first interracial kiss aired on television on Star Trek between Captain Kirk (William Shatner) and Uhura (Nichelle Nichols)
  • 1974: The UN General Assembly recognized Palestine’s right to sovereignty
