  • 1815: The City of Kraków, Poland was declared a free republic state by the Congress of Vienna
  • 1926: Italian and Albania signed a peace treaty
  • 1932: Poland and the USSR signed a non-aggression treaty
  • 1957: The US Army withdrew from Little Rock, Arkansas after enforcing the racial integration of Central High School
  • 1973: US President Richard Nixon signed the Emergency Petroleum Allocation Act, authorizing controls over petroleum price, production, allocation, and marketing
  • 2006: The Canadian House of Commons endorsed Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s motion to declare Québécois a nation within a unified Canada
