• World Wildlife Conservation Day
• 1259: English King Henry III and French King Louis IX signed the Treaty of Paris ending 100 years of conflict between the Capetian and Plantagenet dynasties
• 1655: Middelburg, Netherlands forbade the building of a synagogue
• 1864: Romanian Jews were forbidden to practice law
• 1933: US President Franklin D Roosevelt created the Federal Alcohol Control Administration
• 1941: Nazi ordinances placed the Jews of Poland outside the protection of courts
• 1951: Superheated gasses descended from Mount Catarman, Philippines, killing 500 people
• 1958: Dahomey (Benin), Ivory Coast became autonomous within the French Community
• 1981: US President Reagan signed an Executive Order that allowed the CIA to engage in domestic counter-intelligence
• 2012: Typhoon Bopha made landfall in the Philippines killing at least 81 people
• 2013: Xavier Bettel became Luxenberg’s first openly gay Prime Minister
• 2015: Flooding in Chennai and Tamil Nadu states, India started receding after a month of heavy rainfall, leaving more 260 dead and thousands stranded
