Many days there are far too many anniversaries, holidays, and observances to post about individually on social media, so in an effort to have more of them available, LLPHP is going to experiment with posting them daily here. On This Day
- International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation
- 1189: Rioting in Lynn, Norfolk, England spread to Norwich
- 1911: A great fire destroyed downtown Constantinople (Istanbul, Turkey)
- 1918: Great Britain granted women age 30 and older the right to vote
- 1919: A 5 day general strike started in Seattle
- 1935: The first election was held where women were able to vote in Turkey
- 1969: The New Ulster Movement formed to promote moderate and non-sectarian policies and to assist those candidates who supported Northern Ireland Prime Minister Terence O’Neill
- 1972: A Civil Rights march held in Newry, County Down had a very large turn-out with many people attending to protest the killings in Derry the previous Sunday
- 2012: A 6.9 earthquake hit the Philippines causing 43 confirmed deaths
- 2013: A magnitude 8 earthquake occurred off the Solomon Islands coast causing the deaths of 9 people
- 2018: A 6.0 earthquake struck Hualien County, Taiwan, leaving 10 people dead and over 50 people missing
- 2020: Antarctica recorded a high temperature of 64.9 F (18.2 C) at Esperanza, Argentina’s research station
- 2020: The US experienced its first COVID-19 related death
